J. Chris Hummel, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Hummel, a native of Oklahoma, is a board certified ophthalmologist. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Oklahoma and later his Masters Degree in Public Health Administration and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee, where he served as chief resident and taught the latest techniques in cataract and refractive surgery. He has trained with many of the leading international surgeons in RK, AK, PRK, LASIK, INTACS, SRP and has been performing excimer laser vision correction since its FDA approval in late 1995.

 

Dr. Hummel is the Chief LASIK Surgeon at the Omni Laser Vision Center in Edmond and Wells Laser Center in Ardmore. He is certified by both the American Board of Ophthalmology and American Board of Laser Surgery. He practices general ophthalmology, but has a special interest in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery. By request, he performs cataract and refractive surgeries for those patients referred by other eye doctors.

 

Dr. Hummel is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology Refractive Surgery Interest Group, the American Board of Laser Surgery and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

 

Dr. Hummel and his wife, Robin, have three active children and live in Oklahoma City. In addition to his work, Dr. Hummel enjoys playing golf, water skiing, and mostly spending quality time with his family.
