Deena A. Sylvester, MD

Dr. Sylvester is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and ophthalmic surgeon with specialization in cataract surgery and eyelid surgery.  She is also a specialist with Botox® for the treatment of blepharospasm as well as cosmetic facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Sylvester attended the University of Oklahoma, College of Medicine graduating in the top of her class.  She completed her internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and performed her residency training in Ophthalmology at Akron City Hospital/Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio.  She went on to complete a fellowship in anterior segment and eyelid plastic surgery at The Sinskey Eye Institute.

Dr. Sylvester has built a reputation as an innovative and talented clinician and surgeon.  She has conducted advanced research in the antibiotic treatment of ocular infection.  She has also been involved in studies with the latest technology in cataract surgery and in evaluation of the efficacy of eyelid surgery in the treatment of chronic tearing.  Her research has been presented at numerous medical symposia including the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and has published in scientific medical journals.  She is board certified in ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Sylvester and her husband, Dr. Carl Sylvester, also an ophthalmologist, have a son. The yare glad to have been able to come back to Oklahoma to spend time with their large extended family. They enjoy OU games and Red Hawks baseball.
