iStent® Trabecular Micro-Bypass for Glaucoma in Oklahoma City
What Is iStent®?
iStent® is a new, microscopic device implanted in to the eye to help control intraocular pressure associated with open-angle glaucoma. The iStent® increases the eye’s natural fluid outflow by creating a permanent opening in the trabecular meshwork. At this time, iStent® is only indicated for placement during the time of cataract surgery. In order to be implanted, the patient must have open-angle glaucoma and need cataract surgery.
Am I a Candidate for iStent®?
If you have open-angle glaucoma and also have cataracts that are ready for surgery, you may be a candidate for iStent®. At your consultation with Dr. Hummel, he will discuss if iStent® is the right option for you.
How Much Does iStent® Cost?
Fortunately, this new surgical procedure is covered by Medicare and most private insurance plans.
