SLT Glaucoma Treatment in Oklahoma City
What Is SLT?
Selective laser trabeculoplasty, or SLT, is an excellent treatment option for patients with glaucoma. SLT can help lower intraocular eye pressure, which helps control the glaucoma. This laser targets specific cells in the trabecular meshwork. The treatment is performed in the office, takes about five minutes, and has no restrictions afterward. Unlike older forms of glaucoma laser treatment, the SLT laser can be repeated if necessary.
Am I a Candidate for SLT?
If you have open-angle glaucoma, and wish to consider an alternative to eye drop therapy, then you may be a candidate for SLT. Dr. Hummel or Dr. Eakins can discuss all your glaucoma treatment options at your next appointment.
How Much Does SLT Cost?
Fortunately, the SLT laser procedure is covered by Medicare and most private insurance plans.
